After a day of rest and relaxation in Chicago we headed to Community Reformed Church in Zeeland, Michigan.  To give you a little background, back in November 2009 we brought the Experience to a church less than 30 miles from Zeeland.  We were curious about the response, considering we were recently in this area.  In addition, this church planning team had a very short planning period.  We knew the churches involved had just finished “The Hole in Our Gospel” and they were on fire for the Experience.  Oh were they.

They rallied SO many to walk through the exhibit and had SO many children sponsored in the country of Zimbabwe.  We had some of the nicest and hardest working volunteers.  In fact, they actually crushed the long standing tear down record (previously set at 3 hours and 20 minutes) with a time of 2 hours and 40 minutes!!!!

A huge thank you to all the people behind the scenes who made this happen and who never get the credit they deserve.  We appreciate you!

The last site of the year for our East Coast Team was hosted by West Shore Evangelical Free Church in Mechanicsburg, PA. It was an incredible week to get to know the community of Mechanicsburg and the great team at West Shore.  Prior to the Experience coming to town the church had hosted a concert by Todd Agnew as well as a luncheon with World Vision president Rich Stearns.  He spoke about his transition from corporate America to the non-profit sector that he discusses in his book The Hole in Our Gospel. Because of these events there was already a lot of hype and excitement before the Experience came to town.

We had the opportunity to meet a lot of great people this week including 2 kids who decided to allocate all their allowance money towards sponsoring a child. After going through the Experience they were incredibly touched and knew they had to help make a difference in one childs life. Mom and Dad agreed they could sponsor if they were willing to use their allowance for it. They willingly accepted!
